Good byes.

Today was my last day of student aiding with the lovely 7th grade English class.

I didn't think that it was going to be a real special event or anything, because I didn't really feel like I got to spend that much time in the classroom. I mean, 25 hours worth, but still. So, I went in today, thinking it was just going to be a normal day.

I guess I had myself fooled. At the beginning of class today, the students told me that they had a special treat for me. It turns out, that they had made me a good bye cake. And I will always love me some cake! Yummy! I was always lectured and informed of all the reason why I should come back to their classroom next year.

As we were eating, the students had a chance to learn more about me, and asking questions. We spent most of the time, talking about the beach and the ocean. I learned that most of time haven't really been to a beach before... but I was surprised at the few who did.

At the end of class, I was surprised at how many of the students had come back to say goodbye, or tell me that they would miss me. I'd even had one kid, thank me for helping him understand the difference between plural and singular and when and when not to use an "s", because he felt like theres less red marks on his paper now. Which made me laugh... because that was something that I had helped him with during the first week or so!

As a result, I left today with a smile on my face. Of course I was sad to go. But I was overwhelmed, by how much the students appreciated me! And here, I thought that I didn't have much impact on their learning or class.

Just another reason, to become a teacher!
